What the trade calls these
The same panel goes by half a dozen names depending on who is specifying it. Perforated board and perforated tool board are the manufacturer’s terms; a maintenance team is more likely to ask for a tool display board or simply tools board; a quality or lean engineer writing a 5S procedure will call the same thing shadow boarding, and the drawing may say perforated panel for tools. They are all this range. If you have been given one of those terms on a spec sheet and are not sure it matches, send us the drawing and we will confirm the hole pitch.
5S only works if the board outlasts the audit
Most shadow boards are built for the photograph. Thin sheet flexes when a spanner is pulled off it at an angle, the hook holes elongate, and within a few months the outline no longer matches what hangs on it. At that point the board stops being a control and becomes decoration, and the tools go back into the drawer.
