How to verify the Malaysian distributor

These are the details that can be checked independently, and the ones a buyer’s procurement department will ask for.

An intermediary buys the same goods you could buy, adds a margin, and leaves the transaction once the invoice clears. A distributor holds stock, carries the warranty obligation, and has to still be reachable in year two.

The Tanko range available in Malaysia

Reading a Tanko model code

Tanko part numbers are not arbitrary, and knowing how they are built makes cross-checking a quote much faster. The letter block identifies the family; the digits after it identify size, drawer layout and top material.

• W… — workbenches. WA and WAS are the Performance and Professional benches; WD and WB are heavier frames; a trailing T (WAT, WBT, WDT, WET) marks the variant with a drawer unit or tool cabinet fitted under the top.
• E… — tool cabinets. EA, EB and ED run from standard through heavy duty; EK is the mobile and trolley family; EG is the tall cabinet family.
• K… — perforated board systems. KP is the board and hook range, KQ the frame and stand range, and KL, KM, KR the hanger racks.
• TKI and TA — parts cabinets and bin systems.
• FBA and FBB — steel lockers, by compartment count.
• MB — mould racks with pull-out levels.
• SAN and ENS — CNC tool storage sized to the holder interface (BT-30, BT-40, BT-50, HSK-40, HSK-63) rather than to a generic drawer.

If you already have a model number from the Tanko catalogue, send it exactly as it is written and we will confirm stock, the Malaysian price and the lead time against that code. If you only know the job, describe the job instead — picking the wrong variant is the more expensive mistake.

What buying through the Malaysian distributor changes

• Ringgit quotes. Unit price, project price and delivery itemised separately. No exchange-rate movement between quote and payment.
• Selangor stock. 3–7 working days in the Klang Valley, 5–10 Peninsular, 10–14 East Malaysia — against roughly eight weeks for a direct import.
• Free delivery and free installation in Selangor and the Klang Valley. Outstation delivery is quoted separately and itemised, never buried in the unit price.
• A 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects, administered from the Selangor office. Nothing is shipped back to Taiwan. This is the clause that matters most, and the one an intermediary cannot offer.
• Spare parts. Drawer slides, locks, castors and handles stay orderable against the original SKU.

The honest counter-argument: on a single full container of one model, a direct import can win on unit price. We wrote that comparison out in full, including the lines usually left out of it.

Common questions

Is Primaxs an authorised Tanko distributor?

Yes. Primaxs Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd is the exclusive Malaysia retail distributor for Tanko Enterprise Co., Ltd., and has held the appointment since 2006.

Can I buy Tanko directly from Taiwan instead?

You can. What changes is the lead time — roughly eight weeks against 3–7 days from Selangor stock — the currency exposure, and who handles a warranty claim. A defective unit would have to be shipped back across a border at your cost.

Does Tanko cost more than a local no-brand cabinet?

On the first invoice, usually yes. The difference shows up in the drawer slides. Cheap slides are rated optimistically and tested empty; loaded with 40kg of hand tools they twist and bind, and a cabinet people stop opening has failed regardless of what it cost.

What is the Tanko warranty in Malaysia?

One year against manufacturing defects, administered from our Selangor office. Nothing is shipped back to Taiwan.

Do you deliver outside the Klang Valley?

Yes, nationwide including Sabah and Sarawak. Delivery and installation within Selangor and the Klang Valley are free. Outstation delivery is quoted separately and shown as its own line.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Single units are quoted and delivered. Project pricing is a separate tier and can apply to a phased programme rather than only to one large order.
