CNC trolley, tool box or tool crib — what to ask for
A CNC trolley is the mobile version that goes to the machine; a CNC tool box or CNC tool cabinet is the fixed version that lives in the tool crib. Both hold the same taper pockets. The decision is really about whether tooling is carried to the spindle or issued from a store — and if you run more than three machines, the answer is usually both.
A holder taper is a precision surface, and it is stored like one
A BT-40 taper is ground to a few microns. Rest it in a general-purpose drawer and it collects swarf, knocks against its neighbours and picks up the humidity that Malaysian workshops run at all year. The damage is invisible until a job runs out of tolerance and you spend a morning blaming the machine.
