A bench vise that flexes under load is worse than no vise at all — it hides the true position of the workpiece and the first sign of trouble is usually a slipped cut or a cracked jaw. The WP-51 bench vise is made of SC37 cast carbon steel with a 360° swivel base, built for the clamping loads of metalworking and fabrication rather than the light-duty vises sold for hobby use.
The jaw is finished to HRC25–HRC30 hardness and comes with an anvil face and a pipe jaw built in, so it covers flat stock, round stock and pipe without swapping jaw inserts. Eight variants cover different jaw widths and opening capacities — match the size to the heaviest stock the bench actually handles, not the average job, since undersizing a vise is the more common mistake.
