Sizing it to the paperwork, not the catalogue
Document storage is usually bought by the piece of furniture and then found to be wrong. Count the streams first — how many machines, work orders or part families generate paper at this station — and buy one compartment per stream with room to grow. A cabinet with too few compartments gets used as a shelf within a fortnight.
