A steel top takes welding spatter, hot work and direct hammer blows that would destroy a laminate or timber surface, at the cost of being unforgiving to anything dropped on it. Rated at 50kg — sized for assembly, inspection and light bench work rather than fabrication. It ships as a bare bench, so the uprights, pegboard and lighting can be added later as the job changes rather than paid for now and worked around.
